The Black-Capped Chickadee is the state bird of Massachusetts and Maine.
This idyllic scene was made using vitreous enamel (pulverized glass) that was applied by hand, using a delicate sprinkling method layered over solid copper and then kiln-fired. It has a metal circular hook for hanging.
